The Carolina RailHawks partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to fulfill a local child’s wish today. The child, Christopher of Fuquay-Varina, has been diagnosed with Takayasu's arteritis which results in chronic inflammation of the aorta and can be life threatening. Christopher’s wish is to have his bedroom refurnished. Christopher, an enthusiastic soccer fan, was also thrilled to have the local professional soccer franchise participate in the renovations to his bedroom.
“I think it’s very important to get out in our community and help out wherever we can,” said Nick Addlery, a forward with the Carolina RailHawks. “Christopher loves soccer, so to help him fulfill this wish is a very special thing for us to be able to do.”
In addition to Addlery, players participating included midfielders Cesar Elizondo, Jake Beckford, Beiner Ortiz, and Nick Millington and defenders Julius James and Austen King. Each of the players spent time visiting with Christopher and his parents, Cristobol and Sandra, at their home in Fuquay-Varina before they were off to work on building the brand new furniture that would adorn Christopher’s freshly painted bedroom. The team also took a break from their hard work to play some soccer with Christopher.
