The Carolina RailHawks have announced the signing of Breiner Ortiz, Colombian midfielder that comes to the team from Sabaneta FC in Colombia. The young midfielder impressed Carolina’s coaching staff at the NASL combine and will play with the team in the upcoming 2012 season.
Breiner Ortiz comes to the RailHawks after playing for Sabaneta FC. He was selected out of 150 players in Colombia to receive an invitation to the NASL combine. The creative midfielder was born and raised in Cali, Ortiz played for different clubs in his hometown before joining Sabaneta FC.
“Breiner is a talented midfielder with great control and a good vision. He has a lot of adjustments to make with the move to the States, but he has been impressive on the field since his first day at practice,” said assistant coach Dewan Bader. “Fortunately his teammates have been helping him in the transition and to understand what he needs to know to be successful.”
The Carolina RailHawks will play MLS’ Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sunday March 4 at 3:00 PM in the 4th Annual Hilton Garden Inn Durham Southpoint Community Shield Match.
