A Look Back at the RailHawks 2010 Season

A Look back at 2010
A Season to Remember

2010 was a great year for soccer fans in the United States and an even better year for those fans of the Carolina RailHawks.  Who will forget the NASL title clinching match against Austin, Daniel Paladini’s performance against Minnesota in the first round of playoffs (and even better celebration), or Tom Heinemann’s 89th minute finish against Montreal to send the RailHawks to their first ever League Championship?  It proved to be a great year for the RailHawks as they experienced a series of franchise first at WakeMed Soccer Park.

The team led by Martin Rennie accomplished a great deal of franchise first including the franchise’s first come-from-behind victories with a 2-1 win over Miami on August 18th and a 2-1 win over Puerto Rico on September 25th.  Rennie’s RailHawks squad also captured the organization’s first title (2010 NASL Conference Championship), and the organization’s first Playoff match win (4-0 vs Minnesota), Playoff series win (vs Minnesota), and Playoff goal (Daniel Paladini 64').  The highlight of the season came when the RailHawks hosted the final match of the 2010 USSF-D2 Pro League Championship Round in front of 5,074 screaming spectators.  The appearance marked the first time the franchise has appeared in a championship match.

The RailHawks now looks to transition their 2010 season success into a championship winning season in 2011.  For more information on the 2011 season and ticket information click here.
