Goals by forwards Nicholas Addlery, Brian Shriver, midfielder Austin Da Luz and defender Henry Kalungi gave Carolina RailHawks a 4-0 victory over the visiting Atlanta Silverbacks in front of 4,189 spectators at WakeMed Soccer Park at Cary, N.C. on Saturday evening.
Carolina, mathematically which is out of this year’s NASL Soccer Bowl, continued its home-unbeaten streak which currently now stands at 15 games (NASL and U.S. Open Cup) this year.
Meanwhile, the Spring Champion Atlanta suffered its second consecutive loss while preparing to host the Fall Season winner at the NASL Soccer Bowl on November 9.
“It was great to watch and it could have been seven or eight (goals) as we were able to put in our chances tonight,” said RailHawks coach, Colin Clarke. “It was fun to watch, we got a lot of positives from this match.”
The RailHawks got on the board in the 10th minute with a goal from Uganda native Kalungi off an assist from forward Zack Schilawski which started off with a corner kick taken by midfielder Kenney Walker.
At the 20 minute, Carolina made it 2-0 when Da Luz scored off a center cross from Uruguayan midfielder Enzo Martinez.
In the second half, the RailHawks continued their dominate play on the Silverbacks and in the 66th minute the Jamaican Addlery scored off an assist from Schilawski for a 3-0 advantage.
Shriver closed out the scoring in the 89th minute for Carolina with his league-leading 13th tally via a penalty kick for the 4-0 final score.
“Team started the right way from the first minute and we all combined great,” said Martinez, after the game. “When you have 11 players playing that well it makes it a lot easier.”
