CARY, NC (February 28, 2011) - The Carolina RailHawks began their preparation for the 2011 NASL Season with the opening of training camp today at WakeMed Soccer Park. RailHawks’ players, along with invited trialists, took part in a two-hour training session led by Head Coach Martin Rennie. Brad Rusin and Kupono Low were joined by 2010 returnees Floyd Franks and Devon McKenney and newly acquired Jonny Steele.
“It was exciting to get back out to training and get on the field after the team’s offseason,” said Head Coach Martin Rennie. “I was impressed with how the players have kept themselves fit during their time off. We can now focus on improving and becoming a team.”
A preseason match against collegiate powerhouse Wake Forest Demon Deacons will take place on Friday, March 4th. Wake Forest will host the match in Winston-Salem, N.C. at Spry Stadium with a 7:00PM kickoff. The RailHawks will begin their campaign for the 2011 NASL Championship on April 9th as they host league rival Puerto Rico Islanders at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:00PM.
