From the Goalkeeper

RailHawks goalkeeper Caleb Patterson will be blogging throughout the RailHawks' 2011 season. This is his latest entry.

G’day RailHawk fans,

This is my second blog for the season and it is bound to be a good one…just sayin’!

So a few things have happened since we last spoke, well you read my blog, same thing! First of all we have won our first game! We beat Montreal 2-1 on Saturday. Goals coming from Big Pabs (Pablo Campos) and this guy I have to live with Etienne Barbara. It is always a relief to get that first win, now we are looking to the next game and three points against Edmonton. For me personally it will be a chance to catch up with a former teammate in Lance Parker. He was a goalkeeper with me when I played for Miami. He is a great guy the “bachelor”, he got that name last year. Lance looks like one of the fellas you would see on that show the Bachelor. It should be good to catch up, hopefully I take home the bragging rights.

Since we spoke last, Etienne and I had a chance to go shopping at the grocery store. Lets say this guy had me spending more money at the grocery store than I’ve ever done in my life. We had two full – when I say full I mean overflowing – carts with food. When we got to my car we barely had enough room to fit all the stuff in. It was an interesting experience to say the least, he is asking for stuff that they have in Malta. I was like “Etienne your country isn’t even on the map, let alone American grocery stores having your food.” He didn’t think that was very funny!

Last night, we decided to use the cookie dough we bought to bake our first batch of cookies. I’ve never baked and Etienne, as you will see in the video, says he “buys the already made”. This kid keeps raving about how he is a good cook and all so I figured baking was no big deal. WRONG. He could barely turn the oven on.  Nevertheless, we CHIPPED away in the kitchen and came up with a master piece. I hope you guys enjoy the video, it actually works this time.

UPDATE

I was bloggin’ out before the game now it is after. We took home the 3 points thanks to Etienne Barbara and Pauly D (Nick Zimmerman). I just wanted to add that the goal celebration deserves some sort of award, we got a bit of flak from the lads, but until there is better celebration then this one takes the cake, it will be hard to beat. Anyway, hope you all enjoyed the game time for me to go and relax for the weekend.

Cheers,

CP
