The Carolina RailHawks have acquired midfielder Konrad Warzycha from Sporting Kansas City of MLS on a loan for the remainder of the NASL season.   Warzycha, 23, appeared in two matches during Sporting Kansas City’s 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship run.

After missing his rookie season due to knee surgery, the 2011 MLS SupterDraft pick made his MLS debut in a 2-0 victory over Toronto FC in June.  Warzycha started both international friendlies against Stoke City FC (EPL) and Montpellier Herault SC (Ligue 1) and has appeared in every MLS Reserve League match this season.

The addition of Warzycha gives the RailHawks added depth along the midfield and back line as they continue to fight for playoff positioning.  The RailHawks currently sit fifth in the standings with 31 points (8W-7T-7L) while having played at least one less game than the rest of the league.  With 6 matches remaining, the RailHawks will close out the season against Puerto Rico, San Antonio (twice), FC Edmonton, and Tampa Bay (twice) while only 5 points out of second-place and 11 points out of first-place.

Warzycha is the son of Robert Warzycha, head coach of the Columbus Crew.

The RailHawks will travel to Puerto Rico on September 1st to face the second-place Islanders. The match will kickoff at 7:30p.m. and be streamed live at www.CarolinaRailHawks.com/live.
